Smart bed monitoring for care facilities
The bed that tells you when a resident needs you.
A sensor under the mattress watches every bed with nothing to wear. Velora alerts whoever is on call, escalates until someone answers, and keeps the data so you can plan your resources better.

The problem
A red light in an empty corridor is not an alert.
At night, a handful of staff look after a whole floor. The moments that matter most are the ones nobody sees.
Rounds arrive after the fall
A round checks on a resident at a fixed time. A fall does not wait for it.
Call bells need a hand
The residents most at risk of falling are the least likely to press a button before they get up.
Bedside alarms go unheard
A buzzer or a light in the room only works if someone happens to be in the corridor.
How it works
From an empty bed to a caregiver at the door
No wearables for the resident, no screens to watch. Velora stays quiet until a bed empties when it should not.
01
A sensor under the mattress
Knows when a bed empties. Nothing for the resident to wear.
02
Your rules, bed by bed
Which hours each bed is watched, and how sensitive it is.
03
The right person, right away
Velora calls whoever is on call. Pressing 1 acknowledges.
04
It escalates until someone answers
The next person, another channel, until someone takes it.
The product
Everything the night shift needs, and nothing it doesn't
A dashboard for the people who organise care, and an app for the people who give it.
Every bed at a glance
A live board shows which beds are occupied, which are empty and which are being watched right now, and lights up the moment one empties.
- Live state for every monitored bed
- Monitoring windows in the facility's local time
- Sensitivity set in the alert policy, calibrated to the mattress
An escalation ladder that never gives up
Decide who is called first, how long they have to answer and who comes next. Velora follows the ladder step by step and stops the moment someone acknowledges.
- Calls, SMS and push, in the order you choose
- Press 1 on the call, or tap once in the app, to acknowledge
- Every step recorded: who was called, when, and who answered
On-call rotations that plan themselves
Set the rotation once and Velora works out who is on call every night, weeks ahead. A holiday or a shift swap is an override, not a new rota.
- Rotations per floor or wing, with a fallback
- Overrides for holidays and swaps in seconds
- Whoever is on call is whoever gets called
Velora On-Call, in every caregiver's pocket
The app gets the alert to the person on call, through silent mode and Do Not Disturb, with the room, the bed and one button to take it.
- Critical alerts that ring even when the phone is silenced
- Each caregiver chooses how they are reached and verifies their own number
- In English and Spanish, whichever the caregiver prefers
- Push
- SMS
- Call
By design
Built not to fail at 03:00
1
key press to acknowledge an alert
Right on the call, in any language. No phone to unlock, no password to remember.
3
channels, in the order you choose
A push to the On-Call app, an SMS and a voice call, until someone answers.
0
devices for the resident to wear
The sensor sits under the mattress. Nothing to charge, lose or take off.
24/7
escalation, every night of the year
Rotations decide who is on call each night, holidays included, so an alert always has someone to reach.
Who it's for
Built for the night shift
Velora is designed for care homes and the people who keep them safe at 03:00.
Care homes
Get to a resident before the fall, not after it. Monitor the beds that need it, during the hours that matter.
Caregivers
The alert finds you wherever you are on the floor, on your phone, with the room and bed. One key press and the team knows you have it.
Coordinators
Plan on-call rotations weeks ahead, swap a shift in seconds, and see every alert and who answered it in one dashboard.
Security and privacy
Health data, handled like health data
Velora is built for European care facilities and the rules they work under.
GDPR by design
Velora processes your data as your processor, under the GDPR, on servers in the European Union.
Roles and permissions
Each person sees and changes only what their role allows, facility by facility.
Secure sign-in
Two-factor authentication and Google sign-in for staff accounts.
A record of every alert
When a bed emptied, who was called, on which channel and who acknowledged, kept for review.
Sensors kept up to date
Firmware updates reach every sensor over the air, with no visit to the room.
One sign-in, several centres
Groups with more than one facility manage each one separately from the same account.
FAQ
Questions facilities ask us
Does the resident have to wear anything?
No. The sensor is a pressure pad under the mattress. The resident does not wear, charge or press anything.
What does a facility need?
A sensor for each bed you want to monitor and the facility's Wi-Fi. The rest, from rotations to escalation ladders, is set up in the dashboard.
What happens if nobody answers?
The alert moves to the next step of your escalation ladder, another person or another channel, and keeps going until someone acknowledges it.
Can we choose when a bed is monitored?
Yes. Each alert policy has monitoring windows in the facility's local time, so a bed can be watched only at night, for example.
Which languages does Velora speak?
The dashboard, the On-Call app and the voice calls are available in English and Spanish, and each person chooses their own.
Where is the data stored?
On servers in the European Union. Velora processes it as your processor under the GDPR; the privacy policy sets out every detail.
